1856 alphabet sampler 

A mid 19th century alphabet sampler dated 1856, coarse count natural linen ground worked in cross stitch in blues, greens, reds, yellows and brown silks with rows of alphabets and numerals within symmetrical pattern border. Large spot motif of a basket of flowers beneath two birds. Also motif of crown with initials 'VR' (Victoria Royal).

Initialled 'MP' 'A 10 Y' (aged 10 years)

The sampler measures 15" by 8". This sampler is in A1 condition, it is very rare to get a sampler of this age (140 years) in such a pristine condition!.

The sampler has been recently reframed in an attractive teak effect frame. This sampler will make a superb addition to anybody's collection!.
