Comfort Sarah Turner - 1801

An early 19th Century Sampler, natural linen ground worked in cross long and short stitch in beige silks with bands of alphabet and numbers together with verse reading;

'Diligence, industry and proper employment of time, are material duties of the young, to no purpose are they endowed with the best abilities if they want activity to exert them'.

Named and dated 'Comfort Sarah Turner 1801' (small holes) otherwise in very good condition. Nice piece. 11.5in. x 9.5in., framed and glazed.

This one sold for $450 in October 1998.
