A large late 18th century pictorial sampler dated 1797. Contained within an intricate floral border is a verse reading;

The Lord is just in all his ways
And holy is his works each one
He is near to all that on him call
Who call in truth on him alone

Below the verse are many spot motifs including a large house, trees, plants, animals and symbols.

Signed and dated "Sarah Ann Little her work Age 12 Years" with the date 1797 below a crown.

This truly is a beautiful piece, however 202 years have taken its toll on this sampler, the lower half is suffering from colour run and staining. The bottom of the outside floral border is badly holed with bits of the linen ground missing. Whilst the sampler is damaged in this way, it is by no means an eyesore, it very much retains its original character. If this sampler were in A1 condition it would easily fetch $1600.

The sampler is framed within its original teak frame. It measures 24 inches by 17 inches.
